Her Obituary
Mrs. Lottie Mae York Mack life’s journey began on August 22, 1942 in Whiteville, North Carolina to the late William and Girley York. On May 6, 2022, God whispered into Lottie’s ear “come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest for your souls”. (Matthew 11:28-30)
Lottie attended and graduated from the public schools of Clarendon County, SC. Continuing her education she received her Associate Degree in Nursing from USC-S in Sumter, SC. Securing wealth for her family she was employed with Thomasville Furniture Industry, Toumey Hospital, Manning Memorial Hospital, Big R Convenient Store and Golden State Mutual Insurance; where she received several recognitions as “Saleswomen” of the month.
Planted in her faith Lottie was a faithful member for St. John A.M.E. Zion Church where she sang with Mass Choir. Her favorite pastime was growing her faith by reading the Word of God and watching Gospel TV shows. But most of all she loved loving on her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Lottie was preceded in death by her step-mother Mazie York and her siblings: Eddie J. York, Willie S. York, Betty D. York and Jodell York-Price.
Survivors to cherish her memories are her sons, Larry Mack of Greensboro, NC, and Edward Ward of Thomasville, NC and her daughter, Evet D. Mack (Tim) Robinson of Thomasville, NC; 13 grandchildren: Azure Mack, LaTasha Mack, Laryn Mack, Larenzo Mack, Ryan (Chetenna) Mack, Tameka Thomas, Edward Abrams-Ward, Kamron Ward, Chelsea Ward, Diana Ward, Shanterra Robinson, Michael (Whitney) Camp, Marquis (Erica) Camp and Dontavius York; 27 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Helen York, Evelyn Y. (Mack) Edwards, Priscilla Y. Pee and Katherine York all of Columbia, SC, Raymond (Diane) York, Laura Plowden, Carrie York Cynhia (Johnnie) Pearsin and Rachel (Michael) Abraham all of Manning, SC; Christine (Michael) Gibson of Hopkins, SC and Mae (Gary) Sejour of Bowie, MD, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and special friends, Emma Hogan, Sherri Dow and Issac Alexander.
