Obituary
Marietta, affectionately known as “Rita”, Ann Fordham was born in Thomasville, NC on July 18, 1957 to the late William and Dorothy Fordham. On January 1, 2022 after many years of battling heart failure, Rita’s earthly life came to a close.
Rita was educated through the Thomasville City Schools system. She was very passionate about learning and later went back to obtain first, an Associate Degree in Sociology from Guilford Technical Community College; then a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from University of Phoenix; next a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from University of Arizona; and finally, she was working towards a Doctoral Degree before she became too ill to continue. Rita moved from Thomasville to New York in the 80s and worked for J.P. Morgan and Associates in Information Technology (IT). She left New York and moved to California for a few years, later returning back to Thomasville, NC where she worked for American Express Corporation, Sears, Inc. in Customer Service, and the High Point Country Club in Management.
Rita absolutely loved kids! Rita loved, LOVED her grandchildren dearly! She was the mother/aunt/sister/cousin that everyone would call on for help during challenging times and they needed a solution! She was also the family photographer and had pictures of everyone. Rita will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her father William Fordham, sister Mary Fordham Stewart, and maternal grandparents Allen and Pearl Wilder.
She leaves to cherish bonds and precious memories: her mother, Dorothy Fordham; three children: Niesha Fordham, Lance Fordham, Cordero Fordham; two brothers: Craven (Kim) Fordham, and Walter Darnell White; a brother-in-law, James "Jake" Stewart; two sisters: Marsha Fordham Cullins, and Tonya Fordham; seven grandchildren: Nyla Fordham, Nariah Fordham, Braylin Fordham, Lance Fordham, Shontel Fordham, Kyleigh Fordham, and Kammoni Fordham; one uncle, Moses Wilder; two aunts: Pearlethia (Johnny) Postell and Maggie (Tommy) Stanford; one Godson, Cerrone (Crystal) Postell and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and great friends.
