The Obituary

On Thursday, August 26, 2021, while surrounded by her family, Patricia Ann Gainey transitioned from this earthly life to life eternal. Her life’s earthly journey began on Sunday, April 17, 1949, in Thomasville, North Carolina to the late Benny Gainey and the late Margaret Murchison Jones-Gainey.

Patricia attended Davidson County school system. Maintaining her spiritual faith she was a member of Brown New Calvary Baptist Church. She worked for Thomasville Furniture Industry as a machinist for many years.

Patricia was a strong provider for her family; some will called her a workaholic. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, attending family gatherings, watching old movies, and playing BINGO! Friends and family will fondly remember Patricia’s love for animals. Patricia will be missed by all who God allowed to cross her path.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Anthony Gainey and a sister, Elizabeth Gainey.

She leaves a legacy of love to her four sons, David Gainey and Eric (Bobbie) Gainey of High Point, NC, Terry Gainey of Haywood, CA, Philamon Taylor of Greensboro, NC and her only daughter, Jackie (James) Gainey of Thomasville, NC; fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby (Shelia) and Steven (Dorothy) Gainey both of Thomasville, NC. Two sisters, Phyllis (Alvin) Brown of Burch, VA and Recileant Jones of Frederburg, VA and a special friends, Emmanuel Taylor of Thomasville, NC, Elaine Skeen, Ara Turner, Hazel Cockrane and Ann Chaney, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
