Obituary

Ruby’s life journey began on December 6, 1937 in Waco (Shelby), North Carolina. She was born to the late Talmadge Cline, Sr. and Geneva Ross. She attended and graduated within the Cleveland County school system. After graduating high school in 1955, Ruby decided to further her talents at Lamay Beauty College to become a hairdresser. Once she completed

beauty school Ruby took her career to Thomasville Furniture as a sander, where she retired with 36 years of service.

While making a career for herself, Ruby met and fell in love with the love of her life, W.C. Davis aka “Butchie”. They wedded, on December 17, 1960, and have been together for 61 years, 7 months and 12 days.


Deeply planted in her faith, Ruby was a good and faithful servant to the Lord and to her church community. She was a member of the Deaconess Board and the Golden Girl Club at her home church Emmanuel Baptist Church.


Ruby was a loving wife, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Ruby had the gift of sewing, cooking, doing hair, and cake baking. She was greatest and best cake maker in Thomasville! She made cakes for weddings, baby showers, and other occasions. Ruby favorite time was cooking for everyone especially during the holidays. Ruby loved her husband, family, flowers, and collecting elephants; she was captivated by them. Loved ones will remember Ruby’s warm and cheerful spirit to carry on her legacy.


On Friday, July 29, 2022 at 4:50 am, Ruby Lee Davis took the Lord’s hand and followed him to her heavenly home.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, and one special cousin, Raymond Ross, Jr.


Ruby is survived by her loving and devoted husband, W.C. “Butchie” Davis of the home; a niece and a nephew, whom she raised, Tora Ross of Rockwell, NC and Quinton Ross of Huntersville, NC; a sister, Rachel Ross of Thomasville, NC; a special niece and caretaker, Priscilla (James) Burton of Thomasville NC; a special cousin, Priscilla Ross; a great niece, Katrice Burton of Thomasville, NC ; a aunt, Josephine Ross and a uncle, Joseph Ross; two sisters-in-law, Helen (Albert) Skeen of Thomasville and Barbara Jean Davis of Detroit, MI; three special friends, Ruth Shavis, Robin Hannah and Frances Leak all of Thomasville, NC and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
