Obituary
Shelia Dianne Gainey the daughter of the late Oscar Moss and the late Nadine Smith was born in Thomasville, North Carolina on March 4, 1953.
Dianne as she was affectionately called by family and friends was one of the nicest and humbling person you would ever meet, but she always spoke her mind. Her family was her world. She loved the seasonal holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas so that the family could gather together and make memories. Sheila loved reading books, magazines, anything that she could get her hand on she would read. She enjoyed music, traveling, watching fantasy movies, and most of all she absolutely loved shopping, some might even call her a shopaholic. Sheila wore the hat of a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and of a friend, but the most important hat that she wore was of a giver. She would do anything for anyone, that’s the kind of caring person she was. Our loss is heaven’s gain.
On Thursday evening, September 23, 2021 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, North Carolina an angel was dispatched from heaven to transition another solider home in the person of Sheila Dianne Smith Gainey.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents and one son, David Lucas.
Surviving to cherish precious memories are her wonderful husband, Bobby Gainey; three daughters, Phyllis Smith of High Point, NC, Alma Lucas of Thomasville, NC, and Patricia Lucas of Greensboro, NC; one son, Albert Lucas, Jr. of Thomasville, NC; five grandchildren, Princeton Lucas of Lexington, NC, Lebrandon Lucas, Deja Lucas, Aaliyah Lucas , NC, and Kayden Lucas of all of Thomasville, NC; 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Jean Moss of Thomasville, NC; two brothers, Warren “Rickey” (Pearl) Moss and Jerry (Deborah) Moss both of Thomasville, NC; a mother in love, Othelia Moss; one best friend Anita Crosby and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
