Obituary

On Monda7, January 9, 2023 , William Thomas Owens transitioned from his earthly life to life eternal.

William’s earthly journey began on Friday, October 19, 1951, in Lexington, North Carolina to the late Williams N. Owens and Mary Diggs Owens.

William was a 1970 graduate of Thomasville Senior High School, Thomasville, NC. In 1971, he enlisted into the United State Army as an E-4 Specialist. During his term he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device (wartime). His military training reflected in both his personal and professional life. Family will remembered him as a stern, disciplinary and responsible man. Friends appreciated his depend-ability and supportive gestures. All will remember his famous word “Hello”. Afterward he returned back to Thomasville and worked throughout the Triad area, such as Thomasville Furniture Industry, Custom Finish and Rex Plastic as a fork-lift operator.

During his leisure time William enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grand-children; watching ION station: Maury, 911, and CSI. He also enjoyed listening to his favorite artists: Patty LaBelle and Betty Wright.

William was proceeded in death by his parents, a brother, Reginald Owens and a sisters, Thelma Jean Diggs-Robinson.

He leaves a legacy of love to his children, Crystal Tillman, William E. Owens, Justin (Latrena) Owens, Jason Owens and Rosa Johnson; four step-children: Janet White, Darrell Tillman, Anthony Tillman and Shirley Tillman a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
