Obituary


Delores Brunson Scott transitioned to her heavenly home Monday August 30, 2021 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She was born June 7, 1950 in Clarendon County, South Carolina to the late Samuel Brunson, Sr. and the late Elease Canty Brunson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Cammie Stukes, her beloved husband Eugene Scott, sisters Henrietta Brunson Tillman and Almettia Brunson Ellison, brothers, Robert Brunson and Earl Brunson, and sisters-in-law, Vernice Brunson, Hattie Mae Brunson and Lisa Brunson.

Mrs. Scott, affectionately called “Grandma” by family and "Lois" by other close family and friends, attended public schools in Clarendon County, SC and Durham County, NC. She was employed by Thomasville Furniture Industries for over 20 years after which she worked for Carolina Thrift store until retirement.

Grandma was a faithful member of Freewill UME Church where she was a member of the Gospel Choir and the Missionary Department. Her faith in the Lord helped her through the most trying and difficult times of her life. Grandma was also a past member of the Daughters of Sphinx, NC.

She loved reading the bible, going to the beach and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, four daughters, Sharon “Sheryl” Stukes of Charlotte, NC, Patricia Barron of Thomasville, NC, Melissa Stukes Galloway of Thomasville, NC and Teresa Blair (Omar) of Thomasville, NC; three sisters, Ellen Brunson of Thomasville, NC, Maggie Spann (Roosevelt) of Thomasville, NC and Mary Brunson of Thomasville, NC; one brother, Samuel Brunson, Jr (Mary), of Summerton, SC; ten grandchildren, Justin Dickerson of Charlotte, NC, Darius McCurdy of Thomasville, NC, Ryan Stukes of Charlotte, NC, Branden Blair of Thomasville, NC, Jaylen Blair of Thomasville, NC, Kammia Josey of Thomasville, Quendalyn “Precious” Spann of Thomasville, Megan Spann of Thomasville, Aaliyah Spann of Thomasville, and Shantelle Ellison of Charlotte, NC; one great granddaughter, Malia Brown of Thomasville, NC; one maternal aunt Wilhelmina Canty Bridges of Durham, NC; sisters-in-law Marie Brunson (Sumter, SC), Yashica “Dot” Barber of Winston Salem, NC and Evangelist Shirley S. Ireland (Woodrow) of Winston Salem, NC, brother in-law Darryl Tillman, of Thomasville, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
