Her Journey

Life’s journey for Josephine Chaney Mack began on September 24, 1928, in Thomasville, North Carolina. She was born to the late George Chaney and the late Addie Bello Strickland Chaney. She was also blessed and raised by the late Zeke and Woodie Strickland. Josephine’s life journey came to a quiet and peaceful closure on July 6, 2022, in Ft Washington, Maryland. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Josephine attended the public schools of Davidson County. After graduating she continued her education at Kate Bitting Reynolds nursing school in Winston Salem, NC. Josephine worked and retired from Thomasville Middle School in nutritional services.

Planted in her faith Josephine was a youth member of Friendship Baptist Church and later transferred to First Missionary Baptist Church. Where she was the Mother of the Church, a Willing Workers member, and a Sanctuary choir member. Her favorite hobbies was singing and shopping. All could testify to her keen fashion as she was always in style!

In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Allen Richard Mack.

Survivors to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Wanda “Trina” (Dwight) Martin and Angela Butler both of Ft. Washington, MD, and Audrey Cooper of Thomasville, NC; two sons, Charles Mack and Timothy Mack both of Thomasville, NC , nine grandchildren, fourteen great grand-children, three great-great grandchildren; one brother, George Chaney, Jr., of New York, NY, two sisters, Annette Harris and Woodie Harper both of Thomasville, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on,

and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone.

Those we love can never be more than a thought apart,

far as long as there is memory, they'll live on in the heart.
