Obituary
Alvin Dewane Caldwell was a sun crowned man whose stature and spirit cast an imposing shadow in the direction of the mountaintop. Thus, this son of the late Ervin Caldwell and Barbara Dawkins Caldwell, this hardworking man was truly loved.
Born November 20, 1954 in Thomasville, North Carolina, he attended Thomasville Senior High School and graduated in 1973.
The love of family was the center of his life. Alvin “Big Al’ was a great son, father, grandfather, uncle, relative and friend. Having a great sense of humor, he enjoyed fishing, watching football and old westerns. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Alvin would wake up every Saturday morning and wash his mother’s car, that’s how much he cared and loved his family.
On September 2, 2021, our beloved Alvin “Big Al”, was ushered into eternity by a compassionate God. For those who loved him dearly, those who cared for him tenderly and those who remembered him fondly, it was his triumphant victory in Jesus. To God be the glory, for doing all things well.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Caldwell.
The remembrance of shared moments bring comfort and peace to surviving relatives: children, Recardo, Alvin, Tetaurus, and a bonus daughter, Erica; mother, Barbara Dawkins Caldwell; sisters, Melinda “Kaye” Caldwell and Erma “Woot” (Conley) Abrams; nephews, Ron Caldwell and Nishin Brown; niece, Monique (Michael) Brown and a host of grandchildren, great nieces and a great nephew.
